Default Why is so much filtering going on?

Hi

Why is so much filtering going on in the SMS sending world these days? In the past it was easy and straightforward: Did you send into a network of a Muslim country you could not have words as TPOAs. The rulers there were probably afraid that you were mocking allah by using this word as TPOA.

But these days there are also networks in Western non Muslim countries who filter a lot. The criteria for TPOA filtering is so random these days that you often can't be sure that one of your routes to the network eventually works. There is also a trend to do pattern matching in the message content which hits some big players pretty hard as most of their SMS look similar to each other.

It's really worrying and I'm thinking of creating plan B for my personal career because of this.

Anyone got an explanation? Especially odd in this context are SMS router vendors who claim their devices offer a lot of VAS to the network when in fact they are only used to filter out SMS.

Thanks!
