Default Why STP

One of the most important use of STP is to regulate the network (interconnection with other network like for example GSM and international network, GSM and PSTN).
STP considers as a nerve system of the network where all trace and troubleshooting could take place.
Also it will reduce the number of signaling links in the network.
One of the most important uses of the STP is to connect SS7 monitoring system to STP (for monitoring the network & generating SS7 CDR).

Yes, you are right about it, however taking and understanding a trace taken on STP links is much hassle as signaling traffic of every sort passes through STP and even a very short trace results in thousands of messages
